Let me set the scene…
Read Below OR Listen to a Narration by Christian Jaemes:
Capturing the essence of Haworth's historic Main Street on a crisp Halloween morning offered an intriguing blend of tradition and seasonal festivity.
As I set up my camera, the first light of dawn was just beginning to pierce the mist, illuminating the iconic Black Bull pub—a place steeped in literary history, famously frequented by Branwell Brontë.
Positioning myself just so, I framed the shot with a cascade of vibrant pumpkins in the foreground. These weren't just any pumpkins; each one, with its rich, warm hue, seemed to hold a story, mirroring the ancient stones of the pub behind them.
The juxtaposition of the lively, seasonal orange against the dark, weathered stones of the Black Bull created a visual dialogue between the present festivity and the enduring narratives of the past.
The fog added a layer of mystery, softening the edges of the scene and blending the modern decorations with the old-world architecture. It felt as though the veil between now and then was thinner here, especially on Halloween.
Capturing this moment, I wanted not just to photograph the scene but to capture the feeling of Haworth—a place where history is palpable in the air, and every corner tells a tale.
This image, with its focus on the Black Bull and the festive pumpkins, was a reminder of how places steeped in history like Haworth can embrace contemporary celebrations while honouring their past.
It was a privilege to photograph this scene, preserving a moment where time, tradition, and celebration intersect on the cobbles of Haworth.
